Understanding Performance Logs

Windows Server includes Performance Monitor (PerfMon), which collects real-time and historical data on:

  • CPU usage

  • Memory consumption

  • Disk I/O

  • Network bandwidth

  • Specific application counters (e.g., SQL Server, Exchange)

Admins can log this data at regular intervals for analysis or capacity planning.
