Using Alerts for Proactive Monitoring
Performance Monitor can also trigger alerts when certain thresholds are reached (e.g., CPU > 85%, memory usage > 90%).
Alerts can:

Log events to Event Viewer
-
Send an email or SNMP trap
-
Run a script or executable to mitigate the issue
